Yahoo! on Windows Mobile

The Yahoo search engine has updated its Yahoo! Go service so that it runs on Window Mobile devices. In addition to Yahoo! Search, Yahoo! Go includes Mail, Photos and Calendar access.
Yahoo! News and the popular Yahoo! Finance featured within the Yahoo! Go service and are customised to fit into the smaller screen and tailored to mobile navigation. Yahoo! Search functionality includes local search, web search and image search.
"Staying connected to essential information, from business contacts and calendar to personal email or news, is a crucial part of today's mobile lifestyle," said Scott Horn, general manager, Microsoft Corp. "The availability of Yahoo! Go for Mobile on Windows Mobile-powered phones will allow our customers to bring their favorite Yahoo! services to the devices they already rely on."
Yahoo! first formed a deal with phone maker Motorola in July to have Yahoo! Go installed on future Motorola phones.
Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Weather and Yahoo! Search were ranked first, ninth and tenth most visited by mobile users by Telephia this year. Google search was ranked forth from Telephia’s survey base of 34.6 million US users.
Mobile search is likely to see significant growth in 2007, Yahoo, Google and pay-for-click search engine Miva all offer forms of mobile search advertising. The ability to insert adverts into mobile searches for local information, maps or phone numbers allow search engines to earn revenue from these free to access services. This month Google teamed up with eBay outside the US to manage the site's pay-per-call marketing. The move pits Google against Yahoo who have a search marketing deal with eBay in the United States.
Yahoo's partnership with Windows Mobile extends the search engine's market share beyond Symbian Series 60 users who have already had Yahoo! Go bundled with their phone since January. Yahoo! will hope that the expanded offering will now be able to include the popular Motorola Q which runs Window’s Mobile.
Microsoft are pushing into Yahoo!'s search engine market share with their own MSN and Live search engines but are yet to roll out into mobile search. MSN launched their own pay-for-click advertising service for search marketing this year and adCenter, their PPC platform, launched in the United Kingdom only this month.
